Successful Launch Ceremony Held for Longwen District’s 2024 Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Month and September 20th National Dental Care Day Campaign
On September 20, 2024, the launch ceremony for the "Lifespan Care: Let Health Begin with Your Teeth"—Longwen District’s 2024 Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Month and September 20th National Dental Care Day Campaign—was successfully held at Wanda Plaza in Longwen District. The event was hosted by the Longwen District Health Commission and the Longwen District Education Bureau; organized by the Popular Science Branch of the Zhangzhou Medical Association, the Zhangzhou Stomatological Association, the Longwen District Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Longwen "Frog Prince Azalli" Dental Clinic, and the Longwen "Hengmei" Dental Clinic; and co-organized by the Longwen District Maternal and Child Health Hospital, community health service centers across Longwen District’s various sub-districts, the Guokeng Central Health Center, and Fujian Azalli Daily Chemicals Co., Ltd.
I. Leadership Addresses: Ushering in a New Chapter
At the commencement of the event, Mr. Lu Wenzhou, Director of the Longwen District Health Commission, delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized the critical importance of promoting healthy lifestyles and oral hygiene, and called upon all sectors of society to join hands and actively participate in building a "Healthy Longwen."
Subsequently, Director Lu Wenzhou, President Chen Weilin, President Zhan Yindian, Deputy Director Xu Guoqiang, and Party Leadership Group Member Hong Yangfeng took the stage together to officially launch the Longwen District 2024 Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Month and National Dental Care Day campaign, marking the formal opening of the event.
II. "Zero Cavity" Initiative: Safeguarding the Growth of Young Children
As part of the campaign, seven kindergartens within the district were mobilized to participate in the "Zero Cavity Kindergarten" project. These kindergartens signed partnership agreements to form paired alliances with the Longwen Jingshan "Frog Prince Azalli" Dental Clinic—a designated Oral Health Promotion Base of the China Foundation for Prevention and Control of Dental Diseases—and the Longwen "Hengmei" Dental Clinic. The Longwen Jingshan "Frog Prince" Aijieli Dental Clinic—along with its partner kindergartens: the Longwen District "Frog Prince" Little Star Experimental Kindergarten, the Longwen District "Champs-Élysées" Little Star Kindergarten, the Longwen District "Runyuan" Little Star Kindergarten, and the Longwen District "Gangcheng Yulongwan" Little Star Kindergarten—as well as the Longwen Hengmei Dental Clinic—along with its partner kindergartens: the Longwen District No. 3 Kindergarten, the Longwen District No. 4 Kindergarten, and the Zhangzhou City Longwen District No. 5 Kindergarten—completed a signing ceremony on stage. This event marks a commitment by both parties to jointly advance the cause of children's oral health, striving to create a cavity-free environment for children as they grow. Concurrently, children from the "Frog Prince" Little Star Experimental Kindergarten presented a delightful performance titled "I Love Brushing My Teeth," showcasing their enthusiasm for and engagement with oral health practices.
III. Diverse Interactions: Fostering Deep Engagement
To ensure the event was both engaging and educational, the organizers meticulously designed a series of interactive segments. These activities not only allowed participants to acquire valuable health knowledge through hands-on practice but also enhanced the event's entertainment value and practical utility through a variety of formats.
1. First Aid Skills Demonstration: Life Safety—A Shared Responsibility
Dr. Zhang Xun, Associate Chief Physician in the Department of Anesthesiology at Zhangzhou Hospital, and Ms. Hu Bizhu, a senior head nurse in the Department of Pediatrics (Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Gastroenterology), personally demonstrated essential first aid techniques, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the Heimlich maneuver. Through these visual demonstrations, participants learned critical life-saving skills applicable in emergency situations.
2. Health Education and Quiz with Prizes: Knowledge Dissemination Through Fun Interactions
Dr. Zhang, Director of the Longwen Hengmei Dental Clinic, delivered a lively thematic lecture. Focusing on the specific oral care needs of different age groups, he provided a detailed explanation of daily oral hygiene practices. Following the lecture, a prize-winning quiz session commenced; participants eagerly answered questions, and those who provided correct answers received exquisite oral care gift sets. This segment successfully boosted interactivity while reinforcing the knowledge gained during the lecture.
3. Scientific Brushing Instruction and Challenge: Expert Guidance for Cultivating Good Habits
Dentists from the Longwen Jingshan "Frog Prince" Aijieli Dental Clinic demonstrated scientific brushing techniques on-site. They then guided participants through practical exercises, ensuring that every individual mastered the correct methods for brushing their teeth. The subsequent "Scientific Toothbrushing Challenge" attracted a large turnout of citizens; through a competitive format, the event enabled participants to master proper toothbrushing techniques within a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
4. Free Medical Consultations: Thoughtful Care Benefiting the Public
A dedicated zone for free oral health consultations was also established at the event venue, offering citizens complimentary dental check-ups. Furthermore, municipal-level specialists in cardiovascular and endocrine medicine were on-site to provide free medical advice and address a wide range of health-related inquiries, garnering widespread acclaim from the public.
Through a diverse array of interactive activities and experiential sessions, this event significantly heightened public awareness regarding oral health and healthy lifestyles, while simultaneously advocating for scientifically sound health maintenance practices. As a major highlight of Longwen District’s grand 2024 "Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Month" campaign, a ceremonial launch event was specifically held on September 20—National Teeth Care Day—underscoring the high level of importance and support accorded to this initiative by leaders at all administrative levels. This campaign not only ushered in a new chapter for healthy living in Longwen District but also marked a significant milestone in the district's efforts to enhance health literacy among the entire population, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the gift of a healthy and beautiful smile.
